A chatbot that talks through the SearchWP engine
SearchWP replaces the default WordPress search with a configurable engine that indexes posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomies, custom fields, and document text into its own table, wp_swp_index. Each engine defines weighted sources, so a title hit can outrank a body hit and a tag match can boost specific posts. Logs live in wp_swp_log for query analysis. Editors configure engines from the SearchWP admin, and the front-end search form uses the active engine automatically.
Chat usually skips this entirely. A visitor types into the bot, the bot guesses based on training data, and the search engine the team carefully tuned does no work. SleekAI flips the path. The chatbot runs queries through SearchWP and uses the ranked results as the candidate set for the language model. The reply quotes real posts with real permalinks, ranked the way the team set up the engine. Filters by post type, taxonomy, custom field, or user role apply identically in chat and on the search form.
For long-tail queries that produce no results, the bot can fall back to broader candidates or summarise what it could find. Conversation logs save the query, the matched posts, and the result count. Combined with SearchWP's own logs in wp_swp_log, editors get a complete picture of search demand. The two systems describe the same engine from two angles: the click path and the chat path.

How SearchWP-driven chat works
Pick the engine

Audit both log tables
wp_swp_log for click-path queries and the SleekAI log for chat queries. Topics that show up in one but not the other are signals: missing content, unclear UI, or a tuning gap in the engine that needs revisiting.

Features
What SleekAI gives you for SearchWP
Engine-driven retrieval
Every chat query runs through SearchWP first, so the candidate set is ranked by the same weights the team set up. Title, body, tag, and custom-field weighting all apply, and the language model only sees the top results.
Filter parity with UI
SearchWP supports filtering by post type, taxonomy, custom field, and user role. The chatbot inherits those filters via the engine. A visitor in a private docs section sees only the docs they're allowed to see, matching the front-end search exactly.
Logs on both sides
SearchWP writes to wp_swp_log for click-path queries, and SleekAI logs every chat query alongside the matched posts. Editors can correlate the two to find topics that appear in chat but never in the search form, or vice versa.
Use cases
Where SearchWP sites use SleekAI
Documentation sites
Knowledge bases with hundreds of docs benefit from chat as a search wrapper. The bot replies in plain language while the SearchWP engine ranks the right docs, and the conversation log catches gaps.
Publishing archives
Newsrooms and blogs with deep archives can replace flat search with a chat interface. Visitors describe what they want and the bot quotes the right article, ranked by the title and tag weights the editor configured.
Support and helpdesk
Support sites where users ask in natural language. The bot uses the SearchWP engine to find the right KB article, then summarises it. Conversation logs surface unanswered topics that need a new article.
The bigger picture
Why SearchWP-driven chat matters
SearchWP solves the search relevance problem on the front end. Title weights, tag boosts, custom-field sources, document indexing, and role-based filtering let editors tune a search engine that actually returns the right results. Most sites that install SearchWP do so because they cannot get the default search to behave.
Chat adoption breaks that work. A generic chatbot ignores the engine entirely, generates plausible-sounding replies, and links to pages that may not even exist on the site. SleekAI fixes this by routing chat retrieval through the same SearchWP engine the front-end search form uses.
The chatbot only sees the top-ranked posts the engine surfaces. Replies match the search results the team tuned, including weighting, filtering, and role-based scoping. The editorial benefit is matching channels.
SearchWP logs and chat logs both describe the same engine from two angles. Topics that get clicked but never asked in chat suggest a navigation gap. Topics that get asked in chat but never typed into the search form suggest the form is hard to find.
Both gaps are fixable. The engine is the source of truth. SleekAI gives chat the same path to it that the form already has.
Questions
Common questions about SleekAI for SearchWP
Yes. SearchWP exposes a query API and an engine config stored in wp_options. The SleekAI Wizard wires the chatbot's retrieval step through the active engine, so chat queries return the same ranked results the front-end search form would, including weighting per source.
SearchWP indexes content into wp_swp_index with rows per post per term, plus term tables for fast lookup. The chatbot reads results via the SearchWP API, so the engine handles the SQL. The bot does not duplicate the index or maintain a separate vector store unless you opt in for vector hybrid retrieval.
Yes. SearchWP supports multiple engines, each with its own sources and weights. The chatbot can be scoped per engine using SleekAI display conditions, so a docs bot uses the docs engine and a blog bot uses the blog engine, with no cross-talk and no overlapping results.
SearchWP Live Search renders suggestions in the search field. SleekAI does not replace that UI, the two coexist. Visitors get type-ahead from Live Search and conversational answers from the chatbot, both backed by the same engine and the same ranked results.
Yes. SearchWP engines can scope results by user role and capability. The chatbot inherits the same role check on each request, so a logged-out visitor sees public-only results and a logged-in client sees their private docs. The two channels stay consistent.
Yes. SearchWP supports weighted custom fields per source. The chatbot retrieval respects the same weights, so a post with a high-weight tag or custom field shows up higher in the candidate set. Editors who tune weights for SEO get the same outcome in chat.
The chatbot falls back gracefully. It can broaden the search by relaxing one filter, ask the visitor a clarifying question, or summarise that no match exists. Each zero-result query is logged so the team can see which topics need a new article rather than a tuning change.

Yes. SearchWP writes its own click-path logs to wp_swp_log. SleekAI logs chat queries with matched posts and result counts. Editors can correlate the two to find search topics that appear only in chat or only in the form, often a signal for content or UI changes.
