We're excited to announce the release of SleekPixel 1.1! This update brings two highly anticipated features – custom font support and a live image preview – along with several enhancements and fixes to streamline your dynamic image creation workflow in WordPress.
Custom Fonts
One of the most requested features is here! You can now upload your own custom fonts directly through the SleekPixel settings page. This means you're no longer limited to the default or Google Fonts options.
- Maintain Brand Consistency: Use your specific brand fonts across your website and generated images.
- Unique Designs: Unlock greater creative freedom to make your Open Graph and featured images truly stand out.
- Easy Upload: Simply upload your
.ttf
font files in the settings, and they'll become available in the editor immediately.
Elevate your designs by incorporating unique typography that perfectly matches your brand identity!
Live Image Preview in Sidebar

As noted in our documentation on rendering differences, there can sometimes be minor variations between the browser-based editor preview and the final image generated by PHP's ImageMagick library.
To help you spot these differences instantly, SleekPixel 1.1 introduces an optional live image preview directly in the editor's sidebar.
- Real-time Feedback: See the actual generated PHP image update as you make changes.
- Catch Differences Early: Easily identify and adjust for any subtle rendering variations without needing to constantly save and check the output.
- Toggle On/Off: Enable this preview via the editor settings when you need that extra layer of accuracy assurance.
This feature provides greater confidence that what you see is truly what you get, ensuring your final images are pixel-perfect.
Enhancements & Fixes
This release also includes several smaller improvements and bug fixes:
- Improved Workflow: After deleting an image element, you are now automatically navigated back to the image selection screen.
- Font Rendering Fixes: Addressed issues where the default 'Inter' font wasn't displaying correctly in the editor or rendering properly as a fallback in generated images.
- UI Consistency: Fixed a bug where the editor sidebar could remain hidden when navigating away from the main design screen.
Future Foundation: PDF Rendering
While not a user-facing feature in this release, significant groundwork has been laid under the hood to support PDF rendering in the future. This prepares SleekPixel for exciting new capabilities in upcoming updates, potentially allowing for high-resolution, vector-based outputs.
And that's a wrap for SleekPixel 1.1! We're committed to making dynamic image generation in WordPress as powerful and intuitive as possible. We hope you enjoy the added flexibility of custom fonts and the improved accuracy offered by the live preview.
As always, your feedback is invaluable. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out. Happy designing! ✨
