SleekView Feedback for Asgaros Forum

SleekView Feedback reads asgarosforum_threads and asgarosforum_reactions, sorts every thread by reactions or replies, and renders a public upvote board with category pills mapped to your existing forum tree so high-signal posts stop drowning under the latest necro reply.

SleekView Feedback board for Asgaros Forum

Why Asgaros Forum needs a vote view

Asgaros Forum stores threads in wp_asgarosforum_threads, posts in wp_asgarosforum_posts, and reactions in wp_asgarosforum_reactions. The default forum view sorts by last reply, which is the right default for a quick support forum and the wrong default the moment your forum becomes a feedback channel. A real feature request collects ten reactions, then disappears below a one-line reply from yesterday and never gets revisited.

SleekView Feedback reads those tables directly. Pick the reaction tally as the numeric vote source, point the status pill at a custom thread meta like _asgaros_status, and map the category pill to the forum or subforum ID. The board renders every thread with the original author, the reaction count, and a category pill matching the forum it lives in, all sorted by the numeric column you chose with no manual stickying or theme code edits required at any point.

Each Upvote click writes a real reaction back to asgarosforum_reactions, so existing badge add-ons, moderation logs, and Asgaros reporting all stay synchronized. The board never invents a parallel vote system and never needs a sync job. The numbers on the board match the numbers on the forum because the board is the same data, sorted differently and dressed in colored pills.

Workflow

From Asgaros threads to upvote board

1

Pick the Asgaros data source

Install SleekView and choose Asgaros Forum. The plugin scans asgarosforum_threads, asgarosforum_posts, and asgarosforum_reactions, then surfaces a live preview of recent threads with their reaction counts so you can confirm the rows look right before mapping any board columns at all.
2

Use reactions as the vote count

Point the sort column at the reaction tally from asgarosforum_reactions scoped per thread. SleekView uses that total as the upvote score, so threads that already collected a lot of reactions over the years immediately float to the top of the board without any backfill or one-time migration step.
3

Map status and category

Wire the status pill to a thread meta like _asgaros_status and the category pill to the parent forum ID. Subforums like Bugs and Feature requests become colored pills on the board with no extra taxonomy work, and the status pill updates the meta so Asgaros admin filters keep working as before.
4

Drop the board on a page

Place the SleekView Feedback block on a forum index page or a separate Roadmap page. Logged-in Asgaros members can upvote, which inserts a real reaction back to the thread, and any existing Asgaros badge or notification add-on picks up the activity exactly as if the reaction came from the forum thread itself.

Comparison

Asgaros default view versus SleekView

Default Asgaros thread list

  • Thread list sorts by last reply by default, with no reaction-driven sort anywhere in the UI.
  • Reaction counts from asgarosforum_reactions are visible but never used as ordering anywhere.
  • Forum filter happens via URL navigation, with no inline colored category pills for context.
  • Status of a request lives inside reply text instead of a visible pill on the thread row card.
  • Moderators have no triage board ordered by reactions and rely on scrolling each subforum.

SleekView Feedback

  • Reads asgarosforum_threads and asgarosforum_reactions directly without copies.
  • Sort column accepts reaction tally, reply count, or any custom thread meta on the row.
  • Category pills follow the Asgaros forum tree and pick up new subforums automatically.
  • Upvote writes a real reaction, keeping badges and moderation logs fully in sync over time.
  • Status pill backed by thread meta so existing Asgaros filters still respect every change.

Features

What SleekView Feedback gives you for Asgaros Forum

Reactions become the sort key

SleekView Feedback turns the reaction column Asgaros already populates into the vote source on the board. No second vote system, no migration script, and every reaction the forum has collected since launch immediately counts toward the new ranking the moment the board goes live for the very first time.

Subforum-aware categories

The category pill maps to the Asgaros parent forum ID, so each subforum lights up with a distinct pill color on the board. Admins never maintain a parallel category list, new subforums show up as new pills automatically, and moving a thread between forums updates the pill on the very next render.

Audit-friendly status pills

Status pills change the thread meta, which means any audit log or moderation history plugin watching meta updates captures every move. Reverting a status is a single meta edit, and the board picks up the change immediately because it reads the underlying value live on every render of the page.

Audience

Where Asgaros sites use the board

Replace the public forum index

Swap the Asgaros default forum index for a SleekView board sorted by reaction count. Visitors instantly see what the active community has rallied behind, instead of scrolling chronologically and missing the threads that mattered most over the last quarter of community activity.

Internal moderator triage

Build a private moderator-only board scoped to specific Asgaros subforums, with the sort set to a Severity meta. Mods pick up the highest-impact work first, status pills walk each thread from Open to Fixed, and the board becomes the daily triage queue without leaving the WordPress admin.

Community changelog page

Filter the board to threads with the Shipped status pill and embed it on a What's new page. Members see exactly which Asgaros threads led to shipped changes, complete with the original community ask and the reaction count it accrued before the team committed to building it.

The bigger picture

Why a vote view beats Asgaros defaults

Asgaros Forum is intentionally minimal, and that minimalism is part of why so many small communities love it. The same minimalism means the default thread sort is last reply, and there is no built-in way to surface the threads with the most reactions as the public roadmap. As soon as a forum crosses a few thousand threads, the most-loved feature request gets buried by the most recent support reply, and the active community starts to feel that nobody is reading.

SleekView Feedback fixes that without adding weight to Asgaros itself. The plugin reads the same tables Asgaros already writes to and renders them on a public board ordered by reactions, with status pills and category pills that make priorities and forum context legible at a glance. Members get a calmer, more honest view of what the community is asking for.

Admins get a triage board ordered by impact. Asgaros stays small and fast, and the community signal that was already in the database finally gets the public surface it deserves.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView Feedback for Asgaros Forum

No. Asgaros Forum is free in full, and SleekView reads the core asgarosforum tables directly. No premium add-on is required to drive the board. If you have additional Asgaros add-ons installed, you can use their custom meta fields as sort or status sources, but the base board works on a stock Asgaros install.

Yes. SleekView reads the live reaction counts from asgarosforum_reactions when it renders the board, so every reaction collected before SleekView was installed counts toward the sort order from day one. There is no migration step and no risk of double-counting historical reactions on any thread.

Yes. The query builder accepts a forum ID or a parent forum filter, so you can build a board for a single subforum, a board for two related subforums, or a global board that pulls every thread across the entire site. Filters compose freely so a Bugs-only board for a specific role is a few clicks away.

It writes to Asgaros. The Upvote button inserts a real reaction row in asgarosforum_reactions, which is the same write path the native forum reaction buttons use. Existing Asgaros badge add-ons, moderation logs, and any third-party reporting plugin pick up the engagement exactly as if it came from the forum thread itself.

Yes. SleekView queries threads through the standard Asgaros access layer, which honors per-forum visibility and read permissions. A logged-out visitor never sees threads from a private forum, and a member only sees threads from forums their role can read, so the board never accidentally exposes restricted forum content to anyone.

Yes. The data query accepts an array of forum IDs, so you can build one board that pulls from two or three subforums and another board scoped to a single subforum. Each board reads its own slice of asgarosforum_threads and sorts it by the column you choose during configuration on the WordPress page.

SleekView reads the live thread IDs, so merges that move replies into a target thread leave the merged target on the board with the combined reaction count, while the source thread disappears. Splits create a new thread row that begins with zero reactions and climbs the sort order as the new thread collects new community reactions.

If reactions are disabled inside Asgaros, you can still use the reply count or any custom thread meta as the sort column on the SleekView board. The reaction-based vote source is one option among many, so disabling reactions inside Asgaros does not break the board, it only changes which numeric field drives the order.
