SleekView for Paywall Membership: paywalled content and subscribers as tables

Paywall Membership stores paywall config as _paywall_ postmeta and subscriber records as a CPT plus usermeta. SleekView joins both so a single view shows which posts are gated, who can see them, and which subscribers are active.

SleekView table view for Paywall Membership

Paywalled posts and subscribers in one workspace

Paywall Membership typically stores paywall configuration on each protected post as _paywall_ postmeta (price, required tier, preview length) and tracks subscriber records either as a small CPT or as wp_usermeta keys. Transactions, when the plugin handles them, are usually recorded in the same CPT with status fields.

The default admin shows paywall settings in the post editor and a subscribers list in a separate menu. Cross-cutting questions, like which active subscribers have access to which paywalled posts, or which posts have a paywall but no preview configured, require visiting two screens and either eyeballing the data or running custom queries.

SleekView reads wp_posts joined to its _paywall_ postmeta for the content registry, and reads the subscriber CPT joined to wp_usermeta for the subscriber registry. Inline edits write through update_post_meta() and the relevant wp_* APIs so any subscription-changed hooks fire on save.

Workflow

Paywalled content as a queryable registry

1

Pick the sources

Source 1: wp_posts with _paywall_ meta. Source 2: subscriber CPT joined to wp_usermeta for tier.
2

Compose columns

Tier, price, preview length, last updated for the content registry. Tier, status, signup date for the subscriber registry.
3

Save the workflow views

Missing-preview, deprecated-tier, and pricing-audit views for content. Active-by-tier and recent-signup views for subscribers.
4

Edit inline or in bulk

Writes route through update_post_meta() or the subscriber CPT update API so hooks fire normally.

Sample columns

A typical Paywall Membership paywalled-content view

Posts joined with their _paywall_ meta: tier, price, preview length.

Comparison

Default Paywall Membership admin vs SleekView

Default Paywall Membership admin

  • Paywall settings live in the post editor, one post at a time
  • Subscribers and paywalled posts sit in separate screens
  • No joined view of subscriber tier vs accessible posts
  • Missing-preview audits require opening individual posts
  • Tier rename migrations need wp_postmeta SQL

SleekView

  • Single registry of every paywalled wp_posts entry
  • Joined view of subscribers and accessible content
  • Filter by tier + price + preview status in one query
  • Inline edits route through update_post_meta()
  • Audit views for missing previews or deprecated tiers

Features

What SleekView gives you for Paywall Membership

Paywall registry

Every wp_posts row with _paywall_ meta as one table: tier, price, preview length, last updated. Filter for missing previews or deprecated tiers.

Subscribers + content join

Subscriber CPT joined to the paywall registry on tier so you can see which subscribers can read which posts. One view, both data sources.

Tier and price bulk edits

Bulk-update paywall tier or price across a filtered cohort during pricing changes. Each write fires the plugin's normal update hooks.

Audience

Who uses SleekView for Paywall Membership

Revenue ops

Audit price coverage across paywalled content. Filter for posts with mismatched tier or missing price during a pricing rollout.

Editors

See which articles are paywalled, what tier they're on, and which still lack a configured preview snippet. Plan content gating from one screen.

Subscriber support

Look up a subscriber by email, see their tier, and cross-reference which paywalled posts they can access during chat. No two-tab juggling.

The bigger picture

Why paywalled content needs a registry view

Paywall plugins are easy to configure at the post level and difficult to audit at the catalogue level. Paywall Membership is a typical example: per-post config in _paywall_ meta makes single-post editing fast, but it leaves the whole catalogue invisible to anyone who needs a portfolio view. Editors don't know which articles still lack a configured preview, revenue ops don't know which tier each post sits on without clicking through, and support can't cross-reference a subscriber's tier against the paywalled content they should be able to read.

SleekView turns the per-post meta into proper columns on a joined view, and turns the subscriber CPT into a second view that joins to tier. The two together give the team a working registry. The plugin's editor experience stays exactly as it was; SleekView just adds the catalogue-level workspace that the default admin doesn't ship.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView for Paywall Membership

Most builds store paywall config as _paywall_ postmeta on protected posts and subscribers as a CPT. SleekView reads both and joins them in standard SQL with no special connector.

Yes. Inline writes call update_post_meta(), which fires the plugin's normal updated_post_meta chain. Any paywall-changed hooks the plugin registers continue to fire.

Preview length and snippet sit in the same _paywall_ meta keys. SleekView exposes them as columns and filters, so finding posts with missing or zero-length previews is one query.

If Paywall Membership records transactions on the subscriber CPT or in a transactions CPT, SleekView reads them as a separate table view with status, amount, and gateway columns.

Yes. The query joins wp_postmeta on indexed post_id and meta_key prefix, so the registry pages efficiently even on archives with tens of thousands of posts.

Yes. Editors see content registry views, revenue ops see price-audit views, support sees subscriber-context views. Each gated by WordPress capability.

Yes. Filter the cohort and bulk-update _paywall_tier via update_post_meta(). Each write is logged so the migration is reversible from the audit log.

Yes. Any filtered view exports as CSV with all joined columns, useful for accounting reconciliation or content audits.
