SleekPixel for Spectra blocks

SleekPixel renders a 1200 by 630 OG image on save for any post built with Spectra blocks. Reads title, category, and any custom field. Sits beside Spectra without modifying it.

Spectra extends Gutenberg, the share preview still needs its own engine

Spectra (formerly Ultimate Addons for Gutenberg) is one of the most-installed block extensions on WordPress, paired tightly with the Astra theme but usable on any theme. Sites built with Spectra get a long list of advanced blocks and a design system that keeps the front-end consistent. The share preview is not in that scope, so most Spectra sites use the SEO plugin's global OG image fallback for every URL.

SleekPixel covers the share layer at the post-meta level. It hooks save_post on any post type, reads native plus ACF, Meta Box, and any other custom field, and renders a 1200 by 630 PNG. Spectra keeps composing the visible page, SleekPixel writes the og:image meta tag in the document head. The two systems update independently and do not share code paths.

For sites pairing Spectra with WooCommerce or with custom CPTs, SleekPixel covers each post type with its own template. Products, blog posts, and case studies can each get a different card design pulled from their own fields, without rebuilding anything in the Spectra editor.

Workflow

From Spectra save to share image

1

Enable post types

Pick which post types SleekPixel covers: pages, posts, products, and any CPT a Spectra layout applies to.
2

Map fields

Drop title, category, author, and any ACF or Meta Box field into the SleekPixel template.
3

Save the post

Publish or update from the Gutenberg editor. SleekPixel renders a 1200 by 630 PNG and stores it in uploads.
4

Meta tags update

og:image and twitter:image point at the new file. Every share preview unfurls with the matching card.

Output

Sample card for a Spectra post

Rendered from the post's title, category, and brand color. Same template, every Spectra post.

Format: PNG, OG + Twitter card Dimensions: 1200 × 630

Comparison

Spectra default versus SleekPixel

SEO plugin fallback

  • Every Spectra post falls back to the SEO plugin's global OG image
  • Block-level styles configured in Spectra never reach the share preview
  • Custom fields surfaced in Spectra dynamic content stay invisible to the OG image
  • Brand refresh leaves all past share cards untouched
  • Per-post Canva exports do not scale to a full Spectra site

SleekPixel

  • Hooks save_post for any post type Spectra renders for
  • Reads ACF, Meta Box, and native fields used in Spectra dynamic content
  • Self-hosted render with no per-image fees
  • Template export moves between Spectra sites
  • Bulk regenerate covers a full Spectra site after a refresh

Features

What SleekPixel gives you for Spectra blocks

Block agnostic

Runs on save_post regardless of which Spectra blocks compose the page. The image renders from post-level data, not the block tree.

Dynamic content aware

Reads the same ACF, Meta Box, and native fields Spectra dynamic content uses, available inside the SleekPixel template.

Portable templates

Export a SleekPixel template once and import on every Spectra site. The same OG design system follows the brand.

Use cases

Where Spectra sites benefit most

Spectra plus Astra blogs

Per-post share cards on the standard Spectra plus Astra stack. Editors keep using the Gutenberg flow.

Spectra plus WooCommerce

Product detail pages get cards with title, price, and SKU. Buyers sharing products in DM unfurls see actual product info.

CPT-driven sites

Resource, course, and case-study CPTs each get cards from their custom fields without per-post design work.

The bigger picture

Why Spectra sites need automated share cards

Spectra is the block library most often deployed alongside the Astra theme and is used on hundreds of thousands of sites. The block ecosystem covers hero, feature, pricing, contact form, info box, and most of the standard marketing-page sections, with a design system that keeps styling consistent across templates. The share preview sits outside that scope.

Spectra does not generate OG images per post, so the share preview falls back to the SEO plugin's global image, which makes every URL on the site share with the same fallback. SleekPixel covers that gap with its own data-driven template engine. Define a card layout once with dynamic fields, render automatically on save, refresh as data changes.

The two systems sit at different layers and do not share code paths, so updates on either side ship without coordination. For sites running Spectra plus WooCommerce, the same SleekPixel system covers product URLs without any extra setup.
