Impersonation sessions are written to the database, charts make them auditable

WooCommerce Shop as Customer (the official Woo.com extension) lets a privileged user start a session as any registered customer, then return to their own account when finished. Each switch is logged: the originating user, the target customer, the start time, and the WooCommerce order(s) created during that session. The data lives in user meta plus order meta keys the extension writes per order, including _created_via_shop_as_customer and the original admin user ID.

SleekView Charts reads wp_usermeta, wp_wc_orders, and wp_wc_orders_meta and exposes those impersonation columns as groupBy targets. A Number card counts sessions this month. A Pie breaks sessions down by the admin who started them so the team can see who actually uses the feature. A Bar shows revenue from impersonation-placed orders per agent. An Area trends sessions over time, which is the chart that surfaces support workload spikes after a big promotion or a checkout bug.

None of this requires a separate analytics service. The extension already writes the events; SleekView Charts gives the team a saved view that audits and visualises them.

Workflow

From Shop as Customer logs to chart cards in four steps

1

Pick the dataset

Choose users for session-count charts, or orders filtered by the _created_via_shop_as_customer meta key for revenue charts.
2

Pivot the meta

SleekView lists the impersonation meta keys the extension writes, including the original admin user ID and the target customer ID.
3

Configure chart cards

Add a Number KPI, a Pie of sessions by admin, a Bar of impersonation orders by agent, and an Area of sessions per day.
4

Save the dashboard

The dashboard becomes a saved view that sits next to the table and kanban views built from the same order dataset.

Sample dashboard

Comparison

Default WooCommerce Shop as Customer reporting vs SleekView Charts

Default Shop as Customer admin logs

  • The extension surfaces the impersonation toggle on the user list but does not chart usage at all.
  • Per-agent session counts and revenue contributions are not exposed in any built-in report.
  • Time-series of impersonation activity requires manually filtering the orders list by meta key.
  • Sessions and the orders they produced are not joined into a single audit view.
  • No saved dashboard for compliance review or support-team performance.

SleekView Charts

  • Reads wp_users, wp_usermeta, wp_wc_orders, and wp_wc_orders_meta directly, no log-shipping needed.
  • Pivots the _shop_as_customer_admin_id and target customer meta keys as groupBy columns automatically.
  • Number, Pie, Bar, Area, Line, Radar, and Radial chart types on the same impersonation dataset.
  • Aggregations cover count, sum, average, minimum, and maximum.
  • Same orders feed Table, Kanban, and Charts views in one workspace.

Audience

Who builds WooCommerce Shop as Customer charts dashboards with SleekView

Customer service leads

Sessions per agent and revenue per agent feed a weekly review that proves the team's impact on assisted-checkout orders.

Compliance and audit teams

A saved dashboard listing every impersonation session with admin, customer, and order data is the audit trail many merchants need but rarely have.

Founders running operations

The Area chart of sessions per day flags support workload spikes early, before the queue overflows.

The bigger picture

Impersonation is a sensitive feature, charts make it accountable

Shop as Customer is one of the more sensitive extensions in a WooCommerce stack because it lets staff act as real buyers. The plugin already records which admin started which session and which orders followed, but the admin UI surfaces only the toggle, not the trail. SleekView Charts turns the existing meta keys into a real dashboard with KPIs, per-agent breakdowns, and a time-series.

The shop owner gets visibility into who uses the feature, customer service leads get a clean workload view, and audit teams get a defensible trail. The plugin keeps owning the impersonation flow itself; SleekView just charts what it writes.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView Charts for WooCommerce Shop as Customer

Both work. SleekView reads wp_wc_orders and wp_wc_orders_meta on HPOS, or wp_posts and wp_postmeta on legacy. Chart configuration stays the same.

If the install logs session starts (some configurations write a user meta entry on impersonation start), that table is also chartable. Order-based charts only cover sessions that ended in a purchase.

Any custom order meta written during an impersonation session appears as a groupBy column once it exists on at least one order.

Yes. SleekView reads the same canonical tables, it does not replace the impersonation toggle or override role checks. The admin still uses the extension to start sessions.

Multisite installs surface a site_id column where available, and role joins from wp_usermeta come through as groupBy columns.

No. Charts render in the admin and read from existing order and user tables. Customer-facing pages serve unchanged.

There is no hard cap. Most operations teams build four to eight cards per saved view to keep admin load fast.

Yes. The same capability checks that gate the orders and users screens also gate the charts dashboard, so only privileged users see impersonation data.
