SleekView for Connections Business Directory: entries as tables

Connections stores directory entries in dedicated database tables with addresses, phones, and dates as repeatable fields. SleekView turns those rows into a fast admin grid, even on directories with hundreds of thousands of entries.

SleekView table view for Connections Business Directory

Hundreds of thousands of entries, no waiting

Connections Business Directory was designed for chambers of commerce, member associations, and large staff directories. It stores entries in custom tables like wp_connections and uses related tables for repeatable fields, so a single entry can hold multiple addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and important dates without bloating postmeta.

That schema is exactly why Connections stays fast at scale, but the default admin shows a fixed set of columns, hides repeatable fields behind tabs, and offers no inline editing for visibility, category, or notes. Membership directors auditing a renewal cycle end up opening every entry to update visibility, which does not work on a directory with eight thousand members.

SleekView queries the Connections tables directly. Primary phone, primary email, category, organization, region, and visibility become sortable columns. Repeatable fields surface their primary value by default with all values accessible per row. Inline edits write back through Connections' normal save paths so member-facing templates stay in sync.

Workflow

From repeatable-field tables to a chamber-ready grid

1

Point at the entries table

SleekView reads the wp_connections entry table and the related repeatable-field tables. Primary address, primary phone, and primary email surface as columns by default with all values accessible per row.
2

Build category and tier views

Save views by category, region, membership tier, or organization type. Membership directors get a renewal queue, chamber operators get a regional view, and support staff get a search-first lookup.
3

Filter on repeatable fields

Filter by phone type (mobile, work, fax), address country, or important date label without writing SQL. Repeatable values become first-class filters.
4

Bulk update visibility

Select rows and update visibility, category, or notes for a renewal cycle. Edits write through Connections' save paths so the front-end directory refreshes immediately.

Audience

Who uses SleekView for Connections Business Directory

Membership directors

Track members, renewals, and tier changes from a single live grid. Filter by expiry, sort by tier, and bulk update visibility during renewal cycles.

Chamber operators

Support staff

The bigger picture

Why scaled directories need scaled admin

A chamber of commerce with eight thousand member businesses cannot run renewals through a default admin list. Membership directors need to see who is up for renewal in the next thirty days, who has changed tier this year, and which entries have stale phone numbers because the front-end member-search keeps surfacing dead numbers. None of that is queryable through the standard Connections admin.

The data is there, sitting in the entry table and the repeatable-field tables, but the UI surfaces it one entry at a time. The same pain hits staff directories at universities, association membership rolls, and any business directory that crosses a few thousand entries. Connections was built to handle the data volume.

The admin was not. SleekView closes that gap by giving operators a real grid over data that already exists. Front-end member templates, search, and category filters all keep working through their normal Connections paths.

The admin just stops being the bottleneck.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView for Connections Business Directory

Yes. SleekView queries the wp_connections entry table and the related repeatable-field tables directly. That keeps the grid fast on large directories and means operators can sort or filter on any indexed column without postmeta workarounds. Performance scales the same way Connections itself does.

Primary or first values appear as columns by default, with all values accessible on the row. So if an entry has three phone numbers labeled mobile, work, and fax, the primary phone shows in the column and the other two are visible when you expand or click into the row. Filters can target specific phone types or address countries.

Yes. Visibility, category, and notes are editable cells right in the grid. Bulk update visibility across a tier of members during renewal, or fix a single entry's category without opening the record. Edits write back through Connections' normal save paths so the front-end directory templates stay in sync.

Yes. SleekView is admin-side only. Front-end Connections templates, including premium ones like Carousel, Slim Plus, and any custom template you have purchased or built, continue to work normally. Member-facing search, category archives, and entry detail pages all render through their existing paths.

Yes. Save category-specific views or filter dynamically in the grid. Categories are hierarchical in Connections, and SleekView respects that, so a parent-category filter pulls in children. Combine category with visibility, region, or membership tier to build exactly the view you need.

Yes. Any filtered view exports to CSV with the columns you choose. Useful for sharing a member list with a partner organization, generating a renewal mailing list, or backing up a category before a bulk update.

Yes. Image and logo fields surface as columns showing thumbnails, so operators can scan a directory visually instead of by name only. Useful when auditing a chamber directory where members expect their logo to be uploaded and current.

Yes. Connections supports repeatable date fields like founded, anniversary, or membership-since. SleekView exposes those as filterable columns, so you can build views like Members joining this month or Anniversaries this week for outreach.
