Yoast emits the news sitemap, the table reads the rows
Yoast News SEO is a Yoast SEO Premium add-on that writes news-specific fields into postmeta keys like _yoast_wpseo_newssitemap-exclude, _yoast_wpseo_newssitemap-genre and _yoast_wpseo_newssitemap-stocktickers. Each news article gets a standard row in wp_yoast_indexable alongside those add-on keys, and the plugin emits the resulting Google News sitemap at /news-sitemap.xml.
The default Yoast UI surfaces those fields inside the post editor sidebar, one article at a time. There is no per-article overview that answers questions like which articles published in the last 48 hours are actually included in the news sitemap, which articles are still missing a genre, or which stock-ticker assignments look wrong. SleekView reads the same indexable rows and news postmeta and turns every news article into a sortable, filterable row.
Yoast News SEO keeps owning the sitemap, the schema and the per-article fields. SleekView is a read-and-write layer on top of the same data, so the sitemap continues to render exactly as Yoast generates it, and inline edits write back through Yoast's own indexables service.

Who uses SleekView for Yoast News SEO
News editors
Scope the table to the rolling 48-hour window and confirm every eligible article actually carries a genre and a sitemap status before Google News pulls the next sitemap update.
SEO leads at newsrooms
Audit genre and ticker coverage across the desk in one pass and export the missing-fields list as a brief for the morning editorial standup.
Section heads
Filter to one section, one author or one ticker and review the desk's news output without scrolling past every other beat in the WP admin.
The bigger picture
News articles are records, not sidebar fields
Yoast News SEO is excellent at one job, emitting a Google News sitemap and the schema that goes with it, but the news fields live behind a sidebar one article at a time. A newsroom shipping dozens of articles a day cannot audit genre coverage, sitemap inclusion or ticker assignments without opening every post in turn, and Google News refreshes the sitemap faster than the desk can spot-check the data. SleekView treats the news indexable rows and the Yoast News SEO postmeta as the structured records they already are.
Articles become rows with sitemap status, genre, ticker and author columns, sortable and filterable, with inline edits flowing back through Yoast's own indexables service. The plugin keeps owning the sitemap and the schema; SleekView adds the audit surface a newsroom can actually share at the speed it runs.
Questions
Common questions about SleekView for Yoast News SEO
No. Yoast News SEO still owns sitemap generation, news schema output and the per-article fields. SleekView reads the same indexable rows and news postmeta keys as a sortable table, and writes edits back through the indexables service so the sitemap and head tags refresh exactly as they would after editing through Yoast's own UI.
Yes. Yoast News SEO ships as a Premium add-on and requires Yoast SEO Premium to be active. SleekView reads the data once both are installed, and works on any license tier above that minimum.
Yes. Apply a published_at filter for the last 48 hours, which is the window Google News looks at, and the table only lists articles eligible for the news sitemap right now. Editors typically pin a saved view to that window so the table matches what is actually in the sitemap.
Yes. Author, primary category and post tag are first-class columns, so a view can be scoped to one section, one editor or one ticker. Section heads can read just their own desk's output without scrolling past every other beat.
Yes. Click the genre or ticker cell to update the value, and SleekView writes back to the _yoast_wpseo_newssitemap-* postmeta keys Yoast itself uses. The next news sitemap render reflects the change with no additional step.
No. Queries hit indexed Yoast tables and pagination keeps the grid responsive. Sites publishing hundreds of articles a day stay fast because only the visible page of indexables is fetched and the underlying news postmeta keys are joined on demand.
Yes. Any saved view can be exported to CSV with the current filters and columns applied. Newsrooms typically export the missing-genre list or the 48-hour eligibility list as a standup brief for the morning editorial meeting.
Yes. Each site in a multisite install keeps its own indexable table and news postmeta keys, and SleekView respects that boundary so each site only shows its own articles. Network-level audits can union the per-site views without breaking the data ownership model.
