SleekView Kanban board for Ultimate Member Social Activity

Activity moderation lives buried in long feeds

Ultimate Member Social Activity stores every status update, comment, and like in a set of custom tables linked to the user profile and the activity type. Moderation flags live on each row in a status field, while reports are written to a separate table that joins back through the activity id. The default plugin surfaces this as a long feed with action links, but there is no single screen where pending items, approved items, and removed items live next to each other for easy triage by a small moderation team.

SleekView Kanban reads the Ultimate Member Social Activity rows directly and joins them against profile data and report counts. The natural grouping column is the activity moderation status, which gives you Pending Review, Approved, Hidden, and Removed columns covering the full lifecycle. Each card shows the author name, a preview of the activity body, the type of post, and the number of reports filed against it for quick triage.

Drag a post from Pending Review to Approved and SleekView writes the new status back through Ultimate Member's API, so the post becomes visible in the live feed and any reporter notifications fire normally as they would from the standard admin.

Workflow

Build an activity moderation board in four steps

1

Connect the feed source

Point SleekView at the Ultimate Member Social Activity records. It auto-detects the activity table and the report relations, then exposes each post as a row with status, author, activity type, and report count ready for grouping on the board.
2

Pick the status to group

Choose the activity moderation status as your kanban grouping. Each unique value, including Pending Review, Approved, Hidden, and Removed, becomes a column. Filter by activity type, group, or report count before columns render to scope the board.
3

Choose card fields

Decide which fields appear on each activity card. Common picks are author name, post type, a short body preview, report count, and posted date. SleekView truncates long bodies and shows the report count as a colored badge so problem posts surface fast.
4

Enable drag decisions

Turn on writeback so your moderators can drag a post card to a new column. SleekView updates the Ultimate Member activity status through the plugin API, which keeps notifications, profile visibility, and audit log entries firing as the admin would.

Comparison

Default Ultimate Member admin vs Sleek

Default UM admin

  • Activity posts shown only as a long feed with action links, never as a status pipeline
  • Approving or hiding a post takes a confirmation modal per item, with no drag option
  • No visual way to see pending vs approved vs removed counts on one moderation screen
  • Bulk actions exist but cannot move a range of items to a new status in one drag
  • Report counts live on each post, not summarized in a column moderators can scan

SleekView Kanban

  • Reads Ultimate Member activity rows and report relations directly with no separate sync
  • Groups by any field on the activity row, including moderation_status and type
  • Drag-and-drop writeback updates posts through the Ultimate Member API, not raw SQL queries
  • Cards show author, post type, body preview, and report count at a glance for fast triage
  • Filter by activity type, group, or report threshold before each board renders for focus

Features

What SleekView Kanban gives you for Ultimate Member Social Activity

Drag to change state

Move a post card from Pending Review to Approved or from Approved to Hidden and SleekView updates the Ultimate Member activity row through the plugin API. Feed visibility, profile notifications, and report acknowledgements fire as the standard admin would.

Scope your queue

Filter the board down to one activity type, one group, or posts with at least N reports before columns are built. Specialist moderators focus on photos or links while a broader board watches the whole pending queue without flooding any single team.

Cards for triage

Pick the fields that appear on each card so moderators see author, post type, body preview, report count, and posted time without opening the activity. Reports above a threshold render as a colored badge so escalations show up immediately at top.

Audience

How Ultimate Member communities use the kanban view

Daily moderation board

Community moderators watch the Pending Review column and drag posts to Approved or Hidden as they work. Report acknowledgements and reporter notifications go out in the same motion, no extra admin screens.

Group moderation

Group owners run a scoped board for their own group so they can keep tone consistent without seeing posts from other groups. Network admins use the wider board for policy issues and trends.

Featured content selection

Editors group by activity type and drag standout posts into a Featured column that powers the home page or newsletter. The kanban becomes the editorial source of truth for curated content.

The bigger picture

Why kanban fits Ultimate Member moderation work

Social feeds move fast and need a moderation surface that matches that pace, but the Ultimate Member admin treats every activity post as a row in a long list with action links. Moderators end up scrolling, clicking, and switching between filters when what they actually want is a single page that shows the pending queue, the approved feed, the hidden bin, and the removed log next to each other. A kanban view delivers that page.

Each post lands in a column that matches its current status, and dragging it moves both the visible card and the underlying activity row through the plugin's own API. Report counts surface as colored badges, body previews show enough context to make a decision without opening the full post, and filters let group owners scope the board to their own community. Because writeback uses the Ultimate Member API rather than raw database edits, feed visibility and audit log entries continue to fire as they always did.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView Kanban for Ultimate Member Social Activity

You scope it down. Each board has a filter layer that runs before the columns are built, so you can show only photos, only links, only status posts, or any combination. A separate board can watch the full feed at once for sitewide moderation if that fits your team.

Yes. SleekView writes activity status changes through the Ultimate Member API rather than editing the activity row directly, so any hook the plugin fires for feed visibility, profile activity, or report acknowledgement still runs exactly as it would from the standard plugin admin.

Yes. SleekView respects WordPress capabilities, so you can grant a moderation role that lets users work specific boards while keeping them out of unrelated site settings. Read-only boards are available for stakeholders who only need to monitor activity volume and report trends.

You pick any field on the activity row, the author profile, or the report relation. Common picks are author display name, post type, body preview, report count, posted date, and group name. Long bodies are truncated with a click through to the full post when needed.

No. SleekView reads the activity table and report relations in place and renders columns from live data. There is no separate sync job and no second store to keep in line, so the board always matches what the plugin admin would show on the same screen.

Each column paginates independently and the filter layer pushes selection to the database. Busy feeds stay fast because the board only renders the current page of each column, and you can archive old activity so daily moderation focuses on the current period.

Yes. SleekView writes the actor and timestamp into the standard Ultimate Member moderation log when a card moves, and an optional note field on the drag prompt lets moderators record a short reason that ends up alongside the activity row in the plugin's own audit trail.

It runs beside it. The kanban is an alternative view of the same activity records, so anything you do on the board shows up in the plugin admin and anything you do in the admin shows up on the board. Teams choose whichever surface fits the task at hand.
