SleekView Kanban board for Business Directory Plugin Premium

A live board for Business Directory Premium

Business Directory Plugin Premium stores every business as a wpbdp_listing custom post type with meta keys for category, region, paid plan, expiration date, and a listing status that swings between incomplete, pending payment, complete and pending review, complete, and expired. The default Business Directory admin shows those listings in the standard WordPress post table, which works for browsing but offers no visual signal for status or paid plan.

SleekView Kanban points at the same wpbdp_listing post type and groups every listing by the BD specific status meta or any enum-shaped column you pick. Use the listing status to see Incomplete, Pending, Complete, and Expired lanes side by side. Each card shows the business name, the category, the city, the paid plan, and the days until expiration so a moderator can scan the pipeline and act on each listing at a glance.

Dragging a card between columns writes the new state back to the listing through the WordPress REST API. The Business Directory front end stays in sync, the directory archive and any search facets reflect the new state on the next page load, and the moderator queue lives in one obvious board view instead of buried inside the standard WordPress post list every time.

Workflow

From wpbdp_listing to kanban card

1

Point at wpbdp_listing

Open SleekView, add a new view, and pick the wpbdp_listing post type from Business Directory Premium. SleekView introspects the schema and lists every meta key, including category, region, plan, and expiration date.
2

Pick the status column

Choose the BD listing status meta or any enum-shaped column as the kanban grouper. SleekView reads the distinct values and turns each one into a board column with the color you set in the view editor.
3

Choose the card fields

Select up to six fields per card. Business name, category, city, plan, owner, and expiration date all work out of the box. SleekView formats dates and renders plan tiers as colored badges on every card.
4

Drag to update status

Moving a card writes the new state back to the listing through the WordPress REST API. Capabilities are checked, changes are logged, and the Business Directory front end reflects the new state on the next page load.

Comparison

Business Directory list vs SleekView Kanban

Business Directory list

  • Listings appear as a standard post list without visual lanes for status or plan tiers.
  • Filtering by status reloads the post list and resets the scroll position each time.
  • No drag interaction, so moderators approve one listing at a time through the post editor.
  • Expiration date lives in a small meta column instead of as a visible signal across cards.
  • Bulk moderation after a submission spike takes many clicks not a single drag per card.

SleekView Kanban

  • Reads wpbdp_listing rows directly with no extra sync layer between you and data.
  • Group by BD listing status, plan, category, or any enum-shaped meta on the listing post row.
  • Writebacks use the WordPress REST API and respect existing Business Directory capabilities.
  • Cards show business name, category, city, plan, and days to expire on one card front.
  • Stays in sync with the Business Directory front end so the archive and board never disagree.

Features

What SleekView Kanban gives you for Business Directory Plugin Premium

Status-aware grouping

Pick the BD listing status meta, plan, or any custom field meta on the wpbdp_listing post type and SleekView treats its distinct values as kanban columns. Reorder them, set a color per status, and hide ones you do not care about.

Drag updates the listing

Dropping a card in a new column writes the new state to the listing through a capability-checked REST endpoint. The Business Directory front end and the directory archive reflect the change on the next page load with no restart.

Plan and expiration on each card

Each card shows the plan tier as a badge and the days until expiration prominently. The detail panel keeps the full owner, contact info, and any custom field meta for full listing context whenever a moderator needs the detail.

Audience

Where Business Directory teams use kanban

Daily submission moderation

Moderators start every morning on the Pending lane and drag approved listings into Complete. The board turns a busy day into a small queue of decisions instead of a long scroll.

Incomplete entry follow up

Drag listings missing required fields into a dedicated Incomplete lane. SleekView writes back and an automation can email the owner asking for the missing photo, hours, or plan before expiry.

Renewal pipeline review

Sort Complete listings by days until expiration and drag soon to expire ones into a Renew lane. The board makes the renewal pipeline visible so owners get reminders before listings expire.

The bigger picture

Why a board beats the BD post list

Business Directory Plugin Premium is excellent at giving a directory site the listing schema, the paid plan tiers, and the front end submission flow that make running a business directory possible. The trade off is the admin experience for moderators. The default Business Directory admin lists every business in the standard WordPress post table, which works for a small directory but turns into a wall of rows the moment a marketing push drives a wave of new submissions.

Moderators sort by date, click into each listing to flip the status, then bounce back to scroll some more. State is implicit. The difference between a listing that is pending review and one sitting because a moderator has not gotten to it lives only in their head, or in a brittle external spreadsheet that drifts.

SleekView Kanban fixes this by treating the wpbdp_listing posts as a board. Every listing is a card, every status value is a column, and dragging a card writes the new state back to the post. The front end stays in sync, the archive reflects the new state, and the moderator queue lives in one obvious place.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView Kanban for Business Directory Plugin Premium

Both. SleekView reads the wpbdp_listing custom post type that ships with the free Business Directory Plugin, and it picks up any extra meta keys the Premium version adds for paid features. The board configuration lives in SleekView so upgrading or downgrading does not break the view.

Yes. Any column with a small set of repeated values works as a kanban grouper, including text fields like category, city, plan, or owner. SleekView shows the distinct values it found and lets you map each one to a column with the color and order you want.

The drag updates the BD listing status meta on the post, so the change is reflected in the Business Directory front end, the directory archive, and any search facets on the next page load. There is no shadow state to keep in sync between the board and the plugin.

Yes. Writebacks go through a WordPress REST endpoint that checks the edit_posts and manage_options capabilities by default, and you can swap those for a custom capability. Users without permission see the board as read-only and cannot drag any cards across lanes.

No. The board queries are paginated and indexed on the status meta key. We tested with one hundred thousand wpbdp_listing posts and the initial render stays under 200 ms, with subsequent column scrolls served from a cached page slice that updates.

Yes. Create one view per workflow. A moderation board grouped by listing status, a plan audit board grouped by plan, and a renewal board grouped by days until expiration can all live side by side with their own column set and card field selection.

Yes. SleekView re-reads the wpbdp_listing post meta schema on every render, so any new field you add through Business Directory settings appears in the card field picker and in the group-by picker without requiring a manual view rebuild on the board.

Yes. The view header has an export button that returns the current filter and column state as a CSV, including the kanban column each row belongs to. The export respects any filters you applied in the view editor on the board for moderators.
