SleekView Kanban board for Directorist Pro

A live board for Directorist Pro listings

Directorist Pro stores every business listing as an at_biz_dir custom post type with meta keys for category, location, phone, email, owner, expiration date, and a listing status that swings between pending, publish, expired, and featured. The default Directorist admin lists those listings in the standard WordPress post table, which works for browsing but offers no visual signal for status and no drag interaction for moving listings between stages during a busy moderation pass.

SleekView Kanban points at the same at_biz_dir post type and groups every listing by post_status, the featured flag, or any enum-shaped meta you have added. Use post status to see Pending, Published, Expired, and Featured lanes side by side. Each card shows the business name, the category, the city, and the days until expiration so a moderator can scan the pipeline and act on each listing at a glance.

Dragging a card between columns writes the new state back to the listing through the WordPress REST API. The Directorist front end stays in sync, the directory archive and any search facets reflect the new state on the next page load, and the moderator queue lives in one obvious board view instead of buried inside the post list every time submissions come in.

Workflow

From Directorist listing to kanban card

1

Point at at_biz_dir

Open SleekView, add a new view, and pick the Directorist Pro at_biz_dir custom post type. SleekView introspects the schema and lists every meta key, including category, location, expiration date, and featured flag.
2

Pick the status column

Choose post_status, the featured flag, or any enum-shaped meta as the kanban grouper. SleekView reads the distinct values and turns each one into a board column with a color you set in the view editor.
3

Choose the card fields

Select up to six fields per card. Business name, category, city, phone, expiration date, and any custom field all work out of the box. SleekView formats dates and renders city fields cleanly on every card front.
4

Drag to update status

Moving a card writes the new state back to the listing through the WordPress REST API. Capabilities are checked, changes are logged, and the Directorist Pro front end reflects the new state on the next page render.

Comparison

Directorist post list vs SleekView Kanban

Directorist post list

  • Listings appear as a standard post list without visual lanes for status or featured flags.
  • Filtering by status reloads the post list and resets the scroll position each time.
  • No drag interaction, so moderators approve one listing at a time through the post editor.
  • Expiration dates live in a small meta column instead of as visible signals across lanes.
  • Bulk moderation after a submission spike takes many clicks not a single drag motion.

SleekView Kanban

  • Reads at_biz_dir rows directly with no extra sync layer between you and the listing data.
  • Group by post_status, featured flag, category, or any enum-shaped meta on the listing post.
  • Writebacks use the WordPress REST API and respect existing Directorist Pro capability rules.
  • Cards show business name, category, city, and days to expire on one card front with no setup.
  • Stays in sync with the Directorist front end so the archive and the board never disagree.

Features

What SleekView Kanban gives you for Directorist Pro

Status-aware grouping

Pick post_status, the featured flag, or any custom meta on at_biz_dir and SleekView treats its distinct values as kanban columns. Reorder them, set a color per status, and hide ones you do not care about.

Drag updates the listing

Dropping a card in a new column writes the new state to the listing through a capability-checked REST endpoint. The Directorist Pro front end and the directory archive reflect the change on the next page load right away.

Expiration date per card

Each card shows the days until expiration prominently, so a sweep of the Published lane reveals which listings are about to lapse. The detail panel keeps the full plan, owner, and any custom field meta for full listing context.

Audience

Where Directorist Pro teams use the kanban view

Daily submission moderation

Moderators start every morning on the Pending lane and drag approved listings into Published. The board makes a busy day feel like a small queue of clear decisions, not a wall of post rows.

Featured listing audit

Drag paid featured listings into the Featured lane to confirm placement. SleekView writes back so the archive surfaces them at the top of category pages, and moderators see who paid for placement.

Expiration warning

Sort Published listings by days until expiration and drag soon to expire ones into a Renew lane. The board makes the renewal pipeline visible so owners get reminders before listings expire.

The bigger picture

Why a board beats the Directorist post list

Directorist Pro is excellent at giving a directory site the listing schema, the paid feature flags, and the front end submission flow that make running a business directory possible. The trade off is the admin experience for moderators and directory owners. The default Directorist admin lists every business in the standard WordPress post table, which works fine for a small directory but turns into a maze the moment a marketing push drives a wave of new submissions.

Moderators sort by date, click into each listing to flip the status, then bounce back to scroll some more. The difference between a listing that is pending review and one that is sitting because a moderator has not gotten to it lives only in their head, or in a brittle external spreadsheet. SleekView Kanban fixes this by treating the at_biz_dir posts as a board.

Every listing is a card, every status value is a column, and dragging a card writes the new state back to the post. The front end stays in sync, the archive reflects the new state, and the moderator queue lives in one obvious place.

Questions

Common questions about SleekView Kanban for Directorist Pro

Both. SleekView reads the at_biz_dir custom post type that ships with the free Directorist plugin, and it picks up any extra meta keys Directorist Pro adds for paid features. The board configuration lives in SleekView, so upgrading or downgrading does not break your view at all.

Yes. Any column with a small set of repeated values works as a kanban grouper, including text fields like category, city, plan, or owner. SleekView shows the distinct values it found and lets you map each one to a column with the color and order you want.

The drag updates the post status or featured meta on the listing, so the change is reflected in the Directorist front end, the directory archive, and any search facets on the next page load. There is no shadow state to keep in sync between the board and the plugin.

Yes. Writebacks go through a WordPress REST endpoint that checks the edit_posts and manage_options capabilities by default, and you can swap those for a custom capability. Users without permission see the board as read-only and cannot drag any cards across lanes.

No. The board queries are paginated and indexed on the status column you pick. We tested with one hundred thousand at_biz_dir posts and the initial render stays under 200 ms, with subsequent column scrolls served from a cached page slice that updates.

Yes. Create one view per workflow. A moderation board grouped by post status, a featured audit board grouped by featured flag, and a renewal board grouped by days until expiration can all live side by side with their own column set and card fields.

Yes. SleekView re-reads the at_biz_dir post meta schema on every render, so any new meta key you add through Directorist settings or custom code appears in the card field picker and in the group-by picker without requiring a manual view rebuild on the board.

Yes. The view header has an export button that returns the current filter and column state as a CSV, including the kanban column each row belongs to. The export respects any filters you applied in the view editor on the board for moderators.
