The Sunday post and the manager's lost hour

A sports bar runs on a weekly calendar of games. Sunday is football, Monday is Monday Night, Tuesday and Wednesday are Champions League, Thursday is college, Saturday is more college, then back to Sunday. Each game is a watch party, with drink specials, a food platter, and a TV setup. The customers who walk in for the noon kickoff are the ones who saw the post Thursday afternoon.

The data is on the WordPress site. The matchup is the event post title, the kickoff is the event date and time, the specials are ACF fields, the TV setup (which screens have sound, where the projector is) is a location field. The marketing problem is that the bar manager is also the line cook on Sunday morning, and the Thursday post often gets built late, or gets reused from last week with the matchup retyped.

SleekPixel removes the rebuild. Saving the event post renders a 1080x1080 card with the matchup, the kickoff, the specials, and tonight's TV setup. The OG image wires to the event URL. The Thursday post lands on time, the seats fill on Sunday.

Workflow

From game schedule to social card

1

Map event fields

Point SleekPixel at the matchup, kickoff, specials, and TV setup on the event CPT or game-day post type.
2

Design one square template

Build a single 1080x1080 layout with the bar's mark, type, and palette. A pregame variant and a watch-party variant share one base.
3

Publish the game post

Saving the event renders the card PNG to uploads and wires the OG image to the matching event URL.
4

Post Thursday for Sunday

Manager downloads the card from the Gutenberg sidebar and posts to Instagram and Facebook on Thursday so regulars plan the weekend.

Comparison

Default sports bar image vs SleekPixel

Default sports bar image

  • Manager rebuilds a Canva card for every game and watch party
  • Matchup gets retyped (Eagles vs Cowboys, EAGLES vs COWBOYS, PHI at DAL)
  • Kickoff time on the card lags behind the schedule
  • Drink specials on the card don't match what the kitchen is actually pouring
  • Multi-location sports bar groups end up off-brand per location

SleekPixel

  • Save the event post, the 1080x1080 card lands in uploads
  • Matchup, kickoff, and specials pulled from event fields
  • TV setup and projector info render from the location post
  • OG image wires to the event URL for share previews
  • One template across games keeps every watch party on-brand

Features

What SleekPixel gives you for sports bar

Matchup and kickoff

Eagles vs Cowboys, Liverpool vs Madrid, Duke vs UNC. The matchup and kickoff time render from the event so the card matches the schedule.

Specials baked in

Five-dollar drafts, fourteen-dollar wing platter, two-for-one well shots. Each special pulls from the event's special fields without retyping.

TV setup clear

Sound on the big screen, projector on the back wall, fourteen TVs total. The TV setup field renders so customers know which seat to claim.

Use cases

Who uses SleekPixel for sports bars

NFL Sunday bars

Bars that host RedZone Sundays render a card per Sunday with the marquee matchups, the start time, and the drink specials.

Soccer and rugby bars

Champions League nights, Six Nations weekends, World Cup matches. Each fixture renders a card with the kickoff in the bar's local time.

March Madness and college bars

March Madness afternoons, college bowl games, conference championship weekends each render dedicated event cards.

The bigger picture

Why sports bars compete on weekly cadence

Sports bars compete with every other sports bar in a five-mile radius for the same customer's Sunday. The decision of where to watch the game is made on Thursday or Friday, based on which bar's Instagram post showed up in the feed with a clear matchup, a clear kickoff, and a clear special. The bars that take the Sunday traffic are the ones whose weekly post lands consistently and reads cleanly.

The trap is that the bar manager is also the line cook, the inventory checker, and the bouncer, so the Canva session keeps getting pushed and the post lands at 11pm Saturday instead of 5pm Thursday. The fix is to type the game into the event post that already runs the bar's website calendar and let the template render the card. The Thursday post lands on time, the regulars plan around it, the kitchen runs out of wings by halftime because the seats actually filled.

Questions

Common questions about SleekPixel for sports bar

A theme field per event can carry accent colors for the matchup. The template can swap the accent without changing the bar's brand.

Yes. SleekPixel reads any post type and any field, so The Events Calendar, EventOn, Modern Events Calendar, or a Game Day CPT all map onto the card.

Yes. The event time field carries the bar's local zone, so a London bar's Sunday football game renders in GMT and a Boston bar renders ET.

Yes. With multisite or a location taxonomy, each bar renders the same brand frame with its own address, TV setup, and local kickoff.

Not directly. SleekPixel renders from WordPress fields. A sports schedule API can populate the event posts on a cron, and the cards render from those posts.

Yes. Drink and food special fields render on the same card. A wing platter, a draft price, and a shot deal can all appear on one game's card.

No. SleekPixel saves the image to uploads. Posting stays a manual step or runs through a third-party scheduler.

Yes. Past event posts keep their rendered card in uploads. The grid keeps a full archive of every watch party the bar has hosted.
